Meet Graham Stevens, our Head of Business Operations and Compliance, whose unique blend of hospitality instinct, operational expertise and calm-under-pressure charm helps keep our events exceptional and our clients delighted.

What initially sparked your interest in events, and how has your journey led you to Ultimate?

I always say I fell into the world of events after training in hotel and hospitality management. I’ve found that if you’re passionate about delivering the best possible experience for guests, you can turn your hand to anything. At Ultimate, I’ve found the perfect team - we’re a close-knit group and without doubt, the best in the business.

Clients come to us with big visions. What’s your role in helping bring them to life?

Although my main role is compliance, I get the privilege of being on the ground during our event seasons. That’s when the magic happens - supporting the team, solving problems in real-time and ensuring we meet every standard. It’s the best of both worlds and there’s never a dull moment.

If you could plan an event anywhere in the world, budget no object, where would it be?

A private island in Indonesia. Think lush greenery, ocean views and that serene, barefoot luxury. Paradise perfected.

What’s the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

There’s a particular video on Instagram Reels - no matter how many times I watch it, it absolutely creases me up. It’s the little things!

How do you approach balancing a client’s vision with the practicalities of delivery?

There’s a very fine line between dreaming big and delivering well. My motto is: never over-promise, but always use your knowledge to shape a vision into something spectacular - and achievable. We’re here to make magic, but with our feet firmly on the ground.

What part of your role do you believe has the biggest impact on creating memorable events?

People. If the team feels supported, equipped and energised, they’ll go above and beyond - and that’s when truly memorable experiences are born. My job is to make sure everyone has what they need to succeed.

After a long event day, what’s your go-to comfort meal?

McNuggets and a large glass of chilled wine. No hesitation there.

The Traveller. I’m always off exploring somewhere new.

Forensic scientist - I’m obsessed with a good crime thriller.

Kindle, hands down. You’ll find me deep in a crime thriller whenever I get the chance.
